Website Design Pricing

Web Design – How much will it cost?

Web design for a whole new site is usually charged at a flat rate of somewhere between £600 and £1400. I don’t really work like that. I offer a range of options, designed to suit your business, all at a reasonable cost. I don’t think that people should have to pay excessively for website design services.

For website design with search engine optimisation included, and a core web vitals pass you’d be looking at around:

£300

Website design prices detailed below aren’t completely set in stone. I’m flexible about what I can provide you with, and I’m open to ideas. I’d just need to have a rough idea of what you want, and how you’d like things done to be able to give you an idea of how much it will cost you to get your site online.

I provide website design and search engine optimisation services for small to medium sized businesses in the South East Cornwall area, although I’m happy to create sites for anyone based in the UK who’s happy to work with a remote website developer.

Search Engine Optimisation Included – Get Found Online

Search engine optimisation is included by default with all the web design services I provide. Why?

Think for a moment, how you find a website. You’ll usually go to Google or another search engine, type what you’re looking for in the search box, then click the search button.

You then see a list of websites which you then have a look at. You might click on a few.

Do you ever get to the bottom of the first page? Do you ever have a look at the second page?

You probably don’t, and you’re no alone. Just under half of people searching in Google (44%) get to page two!

If you’re a sole trader or running a small business and you’re looking to gain new business via your website it’s key that your website is on page one.

Getting a website to page one of any search engine isn’t easy. The best way I can think to describe it is that it’s a giant sum with words as well as numbers based on your website, it’s content, and even other sites that link to yours. This sum changes quite often (7 times in 2024). Web design is a design of words and their use, not just a design of visual appearance.

Website design isn’t just about putting words and pictures on the internet (although it does involve that!), it’s also about taking the sum that Google does on your website into account, to make sure that when people search for terms related to your business, they see your website on page one of Google.

There’s no point in paying me (or anyone else) for website design, and you end up with a website that can’t be found in search engine results, regardless of how nice it looks. Web design without SEO is a bit like a book that can’t be opened.

When I first started offering website design, search engine optimisation was a daunting prospect. Being judged and liked (or not liked) by a robot, a database and an algorithm. It was hardly appealing. After I saw the first two websites that I’d made ranking on page one of google for relevant search terms, I was happy with the job that I’d done. I knew those websites would help that business gain new customers, and that it would do that 24 x 7 x 365, just by being found.

I provide SEO as part of the website design service I offer, just because it’s sensible, it enhances online presence and it’s good for business. It would be silly not to!

Performance Optimisation Included – Core Web Vitals Pass Guaranteed

Performance optimisation is included by default with all the web design services I provide. Why?

Nobody likes a slow website.

If a website is slow to load, or hard to navigate around, people just go and find a different website!

Fast page load times and ease of use are key to quality website design. I want to keep people on your website long enough to find your phone number and give you a call, or long enough to find the contact form and drop you message. I don’t want them to go off and look at someone else’s website!

I’ve been working in web hosting for over 10 years now. I know the stack pretty well. I leverage proven technologies such as the Litespeed web server, object caching and opcache to improve page load times. Without wanting to sound big headed, this isn’t that accessible for most people, and it’s the part that people who are making their own websites struggle with. I include performance optimisation with my website design services, and also as a stand alone service for people who have websites that need a performance improvement.

Nobody likes a slow website… and that includes Google!

Google uses a set of metrics to measure your website’s performance. Collectively these are referred to as Core Web Vitals. These measurements can affect your websites ranking in search engine results, so there’s a distinct relationship between website performance and search engine optimisation. A poorly performing site is less likely to rank well, but a website that passes core web vitals stands a much greater chance of ranking.

I guarantee a Core Web Vitals pass as part of my web design service. I wouldn’t let a website go online if it wasn’t performing well enough to pass these tests, simply because there’s no way I’d provide anyone with a substandard website.
