I work in web hosting. I’m a systems administrator by trade, but I’m involved with most aspects of the customer facing side of the business as well as managing and maintaining the web hosting platforms that contain our customer’s websites. I also maintain the company website covering content, search engine optimisation, and writing the company blog. I’ve been doing this job for around 10 years.

In my time at work, I’ve seen a lot of people struggle with getting their sites up and running, or getting a site running how they want it to. A lot of people will have an idea of what they want their site to look like, and they’ll have all the means to go about making a site, but getting from the idea to bringing the site online can be difficult for a lot of people.

It’s not just the website that people find challenging, it’s all the other things that go with it that are often found out about during the process of making the website. The design and user experience, the search engine optimisation and core web vitals… the list goes on, and it can involve a lot of reading and working out.

That’s what I aim to address. I’m here to provide website services that fill the gap between an idea and getting a website up and running. I can do all or as little of this as you want me to. I can make you a website and manage your site in an ongoing manner, if that’s what you want. Alternatively I can do just part of this process for you if you’d like to take some of it on yourself, or be able manage your site’s content.

To give you some kind of comparison, the Enhanced Site on my pricing page would cost around £1000 plus VAT (probably more) if you obtained it from someone else. I’ll even go as far as to say, if you’ve been quoted a cheaper price for a website than my offerings, I’ll beat that quote, and provide you with a site of the same specification at a lower cost than the quote you’ve obtained. Never knowingly undersold.

If you contact me with a quote from another party that’s cheaper than my offerings, I’ll beat that price.

I’m now based in the PL14 area of East Cornwall (I moved here in the spring of 2022). Although I’ve made websites for people as far a field as Yorkshire, and maintain a website for a holiday cottage in Wales, I’d really like to help the local small business and sole traders get found online, all for a reasonable price.

I can get your business found online for as little as £100 (£75 if you’re in the PL14 area), and if you get a few customers off the back of a website, it easily covers this cost.

Why am I providing website services?

Really I should have started proving website services a long time ago. I’ve been working in web hosting for around 10 years, and I’ve spoken to a lot of people who have an idea of the site they’d like in mind, but have found that getting that site online isn’t the easiest task to undertake.

“I shouldn’t need to know how to use a computer to be able to have a website.”

I agree, you shouldn’t. Then again, when you’re making a website, you’re taking your computer usage up a level. Not only do you have to need to know how a computer works, you also need to have an understanding of how web servers work, what a database does, how page content is read by search engines, how much that appeals to search engines, how to make your pages load quickly, how to get the padlock in the address bar.

The list goes on, and on and it can be frustrating if you’re new to it all. Imagine having made a site that you like the look of, only to find out you have to then apply google’s SEO guidelines, and pass google’s page audits.

That’s what I’m offering, to help with all of the above, or to make the whole site for you taking all of the above in to account.
